An integral part of the pool technology is the need to remove mechanical impurities, and this is ensured by pool filtration.

Why do you need pool filtration?

In common use of the garden pool, various mechanical impurities are introduced into it. Another source of water pollution is surrounding. Different trees, grass, soil, etc. And last but not least, chemical or UV water disinfection, remain in the pool of dead parts of microorganisms. A high quality filter system removes these mechanical impurities and the water in garden pool is hygienically clean.

Cartridge Filtering

This type of filtration consists of a pump and a filter of densely folded geotextile. This then holds up dirt. However, the performance of these filters is very small. Cartridge filtration is suitable for a water flow of up to 6 m3 / hour, which is rather small swimming pools. The advantage of this system is that the cartridges are easy to remove and if they are regularly cleaned, filtration is not lost in efficiency.

Sand Filtration

This type of filtration works on the principle of water purification with silica sand of different grain size (0.4 - 1.2 mm). Sand can very well filter out both small and large impurities. This is filtration with higher efficiency than cartridge filtration. Thus, sand filtration is also suitable for larger pools and, moreover, does not require special maintenance on its own. Filtration consists of a pump that draws water into a sand filter, and through the sand there is water, through a special grid, pushed back into the pool.

Care for sand filtration

The service life of the sand is limited in time, and it is necessary to replace it after 2-3 years. On the basis of the pressure increase in the filter vessel, we know that the filter or sand is clogged and needs to be flushed by changing the direction of the water flow. This reverse operation allows four or six-way valves. If the flush is no longer sufficient, it is necessary to replace the sand in the filter device.

What function does the flocculator have when cleaning water?

For filtration to filter even the smallest particles, eg microorganisms, you need to use a flocculant. It is a chemical preparation that binds the dirt and creates a small flake of this size, which is large enough to capture the sand filter, and the water is flushed with the flocker. Flocculants are commercially available in liquid form and are applied approximately once a week.
