The main crown ledge, also called the gutter ledge, is an architectural feature that has the task of dividing the building wall from the under-roof. Usually this is the most decorative cornice on the house. The cornice is traditionally made up of a carrier component, supported by a component and a gutter plate. It does not only act decorative, it also acts as a protection of a building, a window or a door.
