Garden City is a type of urban development. This is a type of modern and planned urban development. The concept of the green city originated in England, in the experimental settlement of New Harmony, designed by Robert Owen.

In the Czech Republic, the concept of the garden town expanded in 1920, when the State Regulatory Commission was established. She set up a regulation plan for Great Prague. The first quarter was Ořechovka, another garden district was built in Smíchov, Vinohrady or Strašnice and many other districts.
